Mr. Oscar L. Lewie Reed, 78, of Mont Alto, PA, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2017, in the Hershey Medical Center. He had been in failing health for the past year. Born February 27, 1939 in Mont Alto, he was the son of the late Oscar G. and Edith (Gossert) Reed. He was a lifelong resident of the Mont Alto area. He and his wife of over 56 years, Bettie M. (Nunemaker) Reed, were married on August 13, 1960. Mr. Reed worked as a crane operator at Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro, for over 41 years, retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, he worked at National Book Network for 10 years, retiring in 2016. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto and was a life member of the Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Reed was an avid sports fan, particularly Philadelphia teams and Penn State football. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and looking at wildlife photos taken from trail cameras. His passion in life was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Danny Reed and his wife, Amy AJ of Quincy, Vicky Weidner and her husband, Todd of Carlisle, PA, and Jamie Reed and his wife, Trina of Fayetteville, PA; seven grandchildren, Lauren Rihel, Alyssa Reed, Kiersten Weidner, Ryan Kell, Courtney Kell, Kylie Reed, and Bailey Reed; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Crena Freeman of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Sanders, Jane Kesselring, and infant Carrie Mae Reed; and five brothers, George Reed, Ralph Reed, Dick Reed, Charles Reed, and Jim Reed.
