Mrs. Betty G. (Jones) Cauffman, 92, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of 5 Spruce Street, Mont Alto, PA, died Sunday morning, July 3, 2016, in the nursing home. Born June 10, 1924 in Mont Alto, PA, she was the daughter of the late James Irvin and Emma Grace (Mentzer) Jones. She was a lifelong resident of the Mont Alto area. Mrs. Cauffman graduated from Quincy High School with the class of 1942. She and her husband, the late Donald L. Cauffman, were married on May 15, 1948. They moved to Spruce Street in 1956. Mr. Cauffman died on July 18, 1986. During World War II, Mrs. Cauffman worked at Landis Tool Company, Waynesboro. She was later employed at Green Thumb, Penn State University, Mont Alto Campus, Noah’s Ark Day Care Center and the Waynesboro Day Care. She was also a Avon Representative in the Mont Alto area for many years. She was last employed as a hostess at Hardee’s Restaurant, Waynesboro, retiring at the age of 86. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto and the Mont Alto Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by five children, Claude L. Cauffman of Scotland, PA, Barbara A. Shaffer of Greencastle, Jonna Crowe of Quincy, Sandra L. Shaffer of Pond Bank, and Brenda S. Jackson of Mont Alto; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Donna Cauffman and Roger Cauffman; seven brothers, Jack Jones, Max Jones, Robert Jones, Claude Jones, Harry Jones, Roy Jones, and Richard Jones; and five sisters, Flo Rock, Ruth McFerren, Mary Barkdoll, Margaret Bakner, and Hilda Bakner.
