Mrs. Doris A. (Bumbaugh) Bender, 76, of Anthony Highway, Chambersburg, PA passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, February 1, 2018 in her home. Born April 16, 1941 in Pond Bank, PA she was the daughter of the late Ralph C. and Mae E. (Peterson) Bumbaugh. She and her husband, the late Eugene I. Jim Bender, Sr. were married on October 19, 1957. They had lived at their present residence since 1972. Mr. Bender passed away August 30, 1993. In her early life, Mrs. Bender was employed by the Carroll Shoe Company, Mont Alto, PA, and Lehmans Carpet. She was last employed at South Mountain Restoration Center as a custodian, retiring in 2015 after 13 years of service. She was a member of the Mont Alto Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Chambersburg Ladies of the Moose. Mrs. Bender is survived by two children, Eugene I. Bender, Jr. and his wife Laura of Waynesboro and Crystal Ann Bender of Chambersburg; two grandchildren Benjamin I. Bender and Molly J. Bender both of Waynesboro; four siblings, Janie M. Marker of Somerset, PA, Harold D. Bumbaugh of Fayetteville, PA, Janice A. Green of Zullinger, PA, and Joyce A. Forney of Chambersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she in preceded in death by a brother Ralph Sonny Bumbaugh.
