Debra Dunbar

January 8, 1958  -  September 9, 2023

Mrs. Debra Ann “Debbie” Dunbar, 65, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in her home, after an extended illness.

Born January 8, 1958, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of Gloria E. (Daywalt) Carbaugh, of Waynesboro, PA, and her late stepfather, Chester Earl Carbaugh.

After high school, Debbie became a mother to 3 daughters: Kelly, Missy, and Sheena. In the 80s, she went to work at Hess Manufacturer. In the 90s, she became a member of the Mont Alto Fire Department and EMT. She also worked at Quincy Home, Waynesboro Hospital, and Mont Alto Family Practice, where, in 1999, she met the love of her life, Norman Dunbar. They were engaged March 14, 2000, and married May 6, 2000, at Tayamentasachta Center for Environmental Studies followed by a honeymoon in Alaska. Their love for each other was like a honeymoon for the remainder of their life together. When meeting anyone for the first time, Norman would introduce her as his “Bride and Joy”, which she enjoyed immensely. They made their home in Greencastle for about 13 years before moving to Waynesboro in 2019. In 2001, after 27 years of nursing experience, Debbie went back to school to complete her nursing degree until her health issues interfered. Debbie then taught herself how to be the best bookkeeper her husband ever had for his business, Oak Tree Casework. In the final years of Oak Tree Casework, Debbie ventured into Real Estate. After 3 years in Real Estate, the market crashed. The pair then opened a hair salon for their daughter and stepdaughter known as New Reflections Salon, in Waynesboro. Two years later, Debbie realized her dream of opening a craft shop with Annie’s Country Corner Craft Shop and Annie’s Ice Cream on 9th St. in Waynesboro which prospered for 3 years. Debbie had a real soft spot for Golden Retrievers, and she enjoyed the company of many over the years. She and her husband even bred Goldens for a time, so that they could share this special breed with others.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Kelly Martin of Waynesboro, Missy Mumme (Kit), of Greencastle, and Sheena Bonebrake (Allen), of Waynesboro; four stepchildren: Tammy Dellamano (Michael), Seneca, MI, Tracie Hudson (Mike), Zullinger, PA, Tangie Dunbar, Waynesboro, and Travis Dunbar (Kristen), Selbyville, DE; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers: Wrennis L. Welsh, Jr., of Waynesboro, Roy C. Monn, Sr., of Fayetteville, PA, and Lee O. Monn, of Waynesboro; and many nieces and nephews and step-nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear friend, Mary Ann Goulding and her husband, Keith, who gave Debbie so much love and support, for which she was very grateful.
